The footway of the A752 was supposed to be upgraded to be part of NCN route 755 south of Gartcosh, but this has still to happen. However, it is now part of the Seven Lochs Trail and still has obstructions like this boundary sign post.

The presumed shared-use footway alongside the road up to Palacerigg Country Park doesn't have a dropped kerb opposite Tannoch Road, making it difficult to join from the side road.

A couple more barriers across the canal towpath.

A couple of barriers across the canal towpath.

Extremely poor finishing at the expansion joint at the north end of the Eurocentral bridge over the M8 motorway.

The cyclepath doesn't run directly to the toucan crossing, necessitating sharp turns, when the desireline is across open land.

If you can't read the sign next to the bridge, and don't know which side of this barrier to pass, no worries - it's pointing the wrong way anyway! See also #97669 and #99654.

If you want to go south to Bellshill you must first go north to go around the end of this barrier. And if you're coming south you need to pick a side and hope you've picked the right side when you get to the direction sign in #99653. See al ... [more]

No access to the bridge over the A725 coming from the south, although there is plenty of room for a ramp.

Unlike all the other bridges nearby, this bridge over the North Calder Water has a bumpy transition at each end, which since it is on a downhill section towards Strathclyde Business Park could cause someone to lose control of their bike if ... [more]

The foot and cycle bridge over the M8 motorway and A8 dual carriageway to the Showcase Cinema and Kirkwood, but why the gate?

A barrier and kissing gate across the path in the Luggiebank Wood Wildlife Reserve.

Steps link the Cumbernauld Cycle Network to Chapelton Road and the rugby club.

The approach at Inchwood Road to the M80 footbridge over to Kirk Place is somewhat messy.

The Cumbernauld Cycle Network's route 1 turns along this path to Craigmarloch, but there's no dropped kerb at the entrance. The 'No Through Road' sign could do with an 'except cycles' plate.

A poor connection between the path around Strathclyde Loch and the exit from Strathclyde Park towards Bothwell.

No road crossing of Mary Rae Road at roundabout with Hamilton Road. On the left in future there will be a shared-use footway alongside the A725 to Raith Interchange.

No dropped kerb for access from the road at the start of the path from Eurocentral to Holytown.

A box in the middle of the Holytown shared footway.

The first obstruction on the Holytown to Eurocentral cycle route. A corner, post and phonebox combination.

Stepped footbridge over railway line. The nearest alternative is the A723.

Steps on the Clyde Walkway.

A flight of steps on the Clyde Walkway on the left, and a path around the back of the houses to the right.

More barriers across path at minor road crossing. All the rage in Kildrum!

More barriers across path at minor road crossing.

More barriers across path at minor road crossing.

This path isn't part of Cumbernauld's cycle network, but it is plagued with barriers at every minor road crossing. The raised crossing might have been better installed in line with the path and made into a zebra crossing.

A gate across route 3 at Broom Road.

Steps on route 3.

Steps on Cumbernauld Cycle Network route 3. Avoidable by using the Cumbernauld Theatre access road.

A barrier across the short path linking to Portland Road. The sign does not look particularly good, and could poke someone's eye out at that height!

Lots of barriers to squeeze past, including blocking part of each of the dropped kerbs.

Route 1 from Auchinstarry to Croy and Cumbernauld starts with a gate.

The path alongside the canal is muddy in places, and is obstructed by a gate.

Most of the Cumbernauld Cycle Network has an asphalt surface, but not the section between Croy and Auchinstarry. The cage at this barrier has a muddy puddle at the bottom.

The only way to get a bike through this ridiculous barrier is to go across the grass. And if North Lanarkshire Council thinks they stop motorbikes, they don't. There were several people on riding around on trailbikes in this locality tha ... [more]

Barriers block the start of the path on the far side of Airdrie Road from Myvot Avenue, despite this being signed as part of the 1f cycle route.

A narrow path made narrower by the lighting columns being planted in the path. This is a signed cycle path.

Barriers across the path. The steps up ahead have a ramp around them, but the route via the Carbrain Gully to the right is a more attractive route for cycling, and they both lead to the town centre.

A short flight of steps on path from Broadwood Loch which could be ramped using the space available.

Kissing gate on North Calder Heritage Trail. There's steps on this path nearby too so maybe of little use to cyclists anyway.

Steps at end of path from Calderbank

Mid-block kissing gate

Welcome to Calderbank!

Small kissing gate on path to Eurocentral, a marginal improvement on the wooden gate wired shut with a "Keep Out" sign that used to be here.

Access control at entrance to Luggie Glen path, on old route of NCN 75. For wider view see #43978.

Two sets of barriers and no dropped kerb on newly rerouted NCN 75 in Drumpellier Lawns housing estate

Will a new path entrance be formed here to Drumpellier Lawns housing estate when the temporary fencing is removed, or will a permanent fence go up, blocking the opportunity for a connection to a quiet road route into Glasgow?
